Should I learn Portuguese if I already speak Spanish?

In my experience I’ve found traveling to Spanish countries with knowing Portuguese strange.  I understand about 80% of their Spanish (spoken slower), and they understand less that 10%.  If even 10%.

So yes, do yourself a favor and learn as much Portuguese as you can before you go.
