Volunteer to Teach DJing to kids in Rocinha Favela

May 1, 2013 By Josh Plotkin 5 Comments

My friend Zezinho da Rocinha does a lot of cool things to help out his home Rocinha. Yesterday we talked to him about the favela tours he does in order to promote a more positive image of life in the favela than you will find on the news. You heard him mention that he has a DJ school which he showed me during my visit.

What I think is incredible about his DJ school is that he is able to teach kids in the favela a skill that they wouldn’t otherwise be able to learn. He is giving them an opportunity to improve their situation in life and see a world beyond the one they grew up in.

I know some people who read this site are interested in volunteer opportunities, and maybe this is one that interests you. Watch the video to learn more about Spin Rocinha and the work that Zezinho does.
