There is a gold rush happening right now in Brazil.
Millions are being made by entrepreneurs who take a business model that is working elsewhere and bring it to the Brazilian market.
In the affiliate marketing world, Erico Rocha had the first 7 figure (in Brazilian Reais) product launch after licensing Product Launch Formula from Jeff Walker and adapting it to the Brazilian market.
Many others have since followed in his footsteps to 7 figure launches including the American entrepreneur Kevin Porter, who enjoyed massive success with the launch of his online English course.
As an online business owner yourself, you may be wondering how you can start taking part in the action.
I’ve recorded a short video to lay out the basic steps you’ll need to take. Or if you’d prefer you can read a summary below.
4 Steps To A Successful Product Launch in Brazil
In order to begin selling your digital products in Brazil, here is what you will need to do.
1. Translate all content into Portuguese
To build lasting relationships with your Brazilian audience you’ll need to create content that is written in language appropriate for the market you’re serving.
In most cases you can take your existing front end content and have it professionally translated into Portuguese. Some of that content may include:
- Blog articles
- Pdf reports
- Videos
- Info graphics
- Podcasts
- Autoresponder sequences
You also need to translate your back end content, such as:
- Ebooks
- Membership sites
- Video courses
- Audio lessons
- Mobile Apps
In general, Brazilians prefer to watch videos. If your content is text heavy you may consider hiring a Brazilian actor to narrate your videos.
2. Adapt your branding for the Brazilian market
All of your sales copy, including sales letters, videos, email sequences and ads needs to be translated into Brazilian Portuguese. It’s not enough to just hire a translator on Odesk though. To get the most out of your campaign you need to have sales copy that is written specifically for your target market in language that they are used to seeing.
You also need to be careful when using images without understanding how they will be received by Brazilians. Something completely innocent to an American consumer might be seen as offensive by a Brazilian.
One important decision you’ll need to make is if you’re willing to learn Portuguese to be the face of your brand and take advantage of the gringo factor, or if you’re going to hire an actor.
3. Set up to Receive Brazilian Payments
Selling your products in Brazil is not as simple as translating everything and putting up a Paypal buy button.
A large number of Brazilian consumers don’t have international credit cards and can’t send you money outside of Brazilian financial systems. You’ll have to use Brazilian payment methods in order to receive payments.
A lot of Brazilians prefer to pay with a system known as boleto. Basically how it works is that they print out a piece of paper that they take to their local bank or lottery house and pay with cash. After a few days the money arrives in your account.
The simplest way to do this is to sell your products through Hotmart, the Brazilian equivalent of Clickbank. They are able to accept payments via boleto, credit cards and bank deposits and can pay you through Paypal.
If you’re not using affiliates and depending on transaction volume there are other methods that might make sense for your business.
4. Provide Customer Support in Portuguese
As a business owner who wants to cultivate long term relationships with your customers, you want to provide an excellent customer service experience.
Having someone translate all support emails into English, then translating the response from your support team back into Portuguese is one option. You may find this to be a time intensive endeavor, in which case you’ll want to hire a dedicated Brazilian support staff to respond to customer support requests.
The needs of your Brazilian customers are going different from the needs of customers in other markets that you work in. Whatever support team you work with will have to be trained in dealing with the idiosyncrasies of Brazilian consumers.
Brazilian employment law can be tricky, and if you’re hiring staff in country you’ll need to be in compliance with Brazilian labor laws.
