Picking up where I left off yesterday by asking someone for the time, today I decided to ask for directions in the most basic Portuguese I could muster. Take a look.
What I want to demonstrate with this video is that you don’t need to speak Portuguese fluently in order to get your meaning across. If you use the most important words other people will understand your meaning and they will respond to your queries.
When you first start studying Brazilian Portuguese, you should focus on the most important words needed to communicate, and focus less on grammar. As you can see in the video grammar wasn’t necessary to successfully find out which bus I needed to take.
Portuguese Transcript:
“Com licença, Eu quero savassi. Onde ir onibus?”
“Patio Savassi?
“Savassi.”
“Esse. Pergunta motorista e ele te fala. Onde você vai descer? ”
“Patio Savassi.”
“Ah passa.”
“Passa?”
