Video: How to Ask for the Time in Portuguese

March 9, 2013 By Josh Plotkin Leave a Comment

I made today’s video in response to yesterday’s video where I challenged you to speak more Portuguese and speak less English. In the video I stop a random person on the street and ask them what time it is.

Doing short little exercises like this will have a great effect on improving your Portuguese. Asking for the time is quick, easy and leaves little room for you to make a mistake. The simple act of asking the question will help increase your confidence and get you more comfortable with speaking Portuguese.

Asking for the time will also help put you in a social mood, which will make it easier to speak more complex things in Portuguese later on. If you have difficulty saying a three word question to someone, you will probably have difficulty speaking more complex sentences. Start small at the beginning of your day and it will set a good tone for the rest of your day.
